If you’re a wannabe comedian jokes about Obama are a perfect way to make your mark. With more and more people in tune to what’s happening on a national level and with Obama’s ratings in the gutter, you could actually make a name for yourself. You’ve got a few months to go, depending on whether or not Obama gets re-elected into office so you might as well take advantage of the opportunity.
A lot of famous comedians actually started out with political comedy. Loud mouthed and typically irreverent humour tends to get heads turning. Whether they are viewed or bad is another story, but at least they give you some name or face recall. Take Bill Cosby for example. The author, funny man and loved celebrity is actually a political activist. The seething, although seemingly polite humour he specializes in, is an epitome of something that will keep you coming back for more. Whether or not he would actually tell any jokes against Obama however are obviously highly unlikely.
You’ve also got Whoopi Goldberg, loud and proud comedian who would probably be more willing to end up jobless than be regarded as not funny or confined to someone else’s political view. Or of course there’s Jeremy Hardy from the BBC. Of course this is not to say that they are against Obama either, just that they’ve also shown mettle when it comes to expressing their political opinions and views.
As you can see activism and comedy need not be indifferent, rather they can actually be an excellent stepping stone. People are by nature, opinionated and free spirited. Sure there are some exceptions but in general we love to laugh and we love to think, so something or someone (that’s you) can make a pretty good living doing both. Don’t worry, at least jokes about Obama are an easy subject matter.
